As im browsing the social media, mainly twitter, I'm seeing an increasing amount of post commenting about the recent march of Taliban into Kabul which makes Taliban, as I'm seeing right now, trying to form the government. The issue is there are a lot of people commenting without any evidence to back it up
I even see a user who claim that a movie, made by Hollywood titled 12 strong is their reference in judging the situation in Afghanistan. I really cannot made this up.
People are tricked into believing that a single source of information, mainly from western or USA media such as CNN,BBC,Fox News and such. And when someone trying to point out their mistake, they'll try to cancel that person.
With the increasing amount of information flowing, it is a good thing for us to know the situation there but there are also negative side which are the increasing amount of fake or manipulated information.
Information can be used as a propaganda machine, especially by the western media outlets. That information can be used to garner the support from international group to justify their action. Lastly, it will be seen that what is wrong will be right and what is right will be wrong.
That's just a glimpse on how powerful this propaganda machinery is.
But of course, I'm not saying that the Taliban will bring prosperity to Afghanistan, it's just that there are so much thing that are unknown and the only source that most people have and received are from these media. While actually ignoring the people of Afghanistan who are actually there, living at the streets of Kabul and anywhere else.
2021 has been such a chaotic year for us really, tragedy after tragedy inflicted upon us, with the virus mutating much more aggressively rendering the vaccines useless in some cases.
With the economic destruction that it had brought upon us, me in fact are included feeling the consequences of the economic downturn. Young graduates such as myself getting harder and harder to find jobs that fit with my education requirement or what i've learnt.
I think if a person from the 18th century were to live in today's world he'll be pretty calm. Why? Because he won't have the access to all these information, of course he'll lose out for example on how to make his crops more efficient but he'll also gained peace of knowing limited amount of bad news every single minutes. But then again, I dont know that, i can only safely assume.
